Yes it was a big trip .Just me and my daughter (12yo). We took 2 weeks to get there 1 week there and 2 weeks to get home. It was a great trip. Our first stop was Ballina as I wanted to get to Brissy by the Sunday to see friend there. Hooked up caravan on Monday morning for Bundaberg we stayed there for 2 nights. Went to the Ginger Beer Factory and Bundy Factory and had a look around as I hadn't been there for about 15 years and my daughter has never been there. Next stop was Rockhampton were we stayed for 2 nights and went to the zoo, gardens and out to Yeppoon. Stopped at Mackay for the night and then onto Airlie Beach for 2 nights went out to Hamiliton Island and went on a jet boat and hired a golf buggy to see the island we had so much fun on the island. My parent meet us at Airlie Beach and the weather was rainy so we decided we would keep heading north and come back on our return so of to Townsville we went for 3 nights. We went over to Magnetic Island for the day and just looked around town at the tourist spots. Next stop was Mission Beach for the night had a look around and as we were coming into town I was coming along a road and cars were doing uturns ahead of me and just stopped along the road as there was a cassaway having a feed at the side of the road from there we drove to Paronella Park hoping to go on the eco tour but it was booked our so we made arrangements to come back on our return so off to Cairns we headed. We stayed in Cairns for 1 week, yes we did got to the Daintree absolutely beautiful, went to the night zoo out to green island. My cousin got married that was the reason for the trip. So much to see and not enough time. Will have to do another trip that would be a shame hahaha. On the return we stopped at Paronella Park and done 3 tours including the night tour it was great. down to Rollingstone for a night and then back to Airlie Beach for 2 night and more island hopping.Left Airlie Beach and my parents took off west to go to Carnavon Gorge we went back down the coast. We were on our way back to Rockhampton and 100k's north I had a blow out on the caravan no where to pull off the road just one long stretch of road no phone coverage so rang police to see if they could get NRMA for me, While waiting I thought stuff it I can change a tyre and off I went and done it took the tyre off and then realised that I didn't have the caravan high enough for the spare to go on eventually I got it on and we where off NRMA guy was about 10k's down the road looking for me so pulled over and got him to check it. Drove to Rockhampton for the night nothing is opened on a sunday there so had to wait till monday to get tyre fixed. Tyre fixed and off to Brisbane to see friends again stayed there for 4 nights and then back to Sydney stopping off at Coffs to see my grandmother. It was a great experience for me and my daughter she loved it and wants to do another trip like it. Thinking of doing Darwin and the centre one day.

Hi,

I've done the Sydney/Cairnes/Sydney trip with my parents a twice when I was a teenager.
Once was just by car staying in onsite vans on the way up and back.
Once was in my grandfather's ford wagon towing his caravan.
Both times we enjoyed the trip, seeing the cane trains and cane cutting and visited a sugar mill.
Once we drove out to Chillago to walk through the limestone caves similar to Janolan.
Also did the Green Island boat daytrip.

On the car trip, we got stuck between Mackay and Rockhampton when we got to a flooded river and when we turned back, the river we just passed was also flooded, so we spent two nights in the car waiting for the flooding to subside.
On the caravan trip we had to spend 3 days in Mackay due to flooded rivers so the time was spent in the local playing pool all day.

Very fond memories and loved every day of the trips, as I am sure your daughter did on yours.

Yeah it's a great trip.

We went as far as Paronella park last December ... if there's one place not to miss that's it. Absolutely incredible that one man created all of that.

I blew a tyre on the Rocky/ Yeppoon road. At least you made it to Rocky. I had to buy two Savero 285's for the cruiser at $270/each. I could have got BFG's for close to that in Rocky ... All part of the fun I guess!

Stay well.
