My Ideal Caravan Park

Postby solo_1 on Sat Nov 29, 2008 11:10 am

Hi everyone,

I am sure many/most of these have been covered, but the things that I rate highly are:

Level sites
Flood free
Shade trees (but not overhanging the sites)
Well spaced sites (no-one wants to hear me snoring)
Roads wide enough to allow easy reversing (or better still, drive-throughs)
No backpackers in crappy campervans. I know, I was young once. I apologise to everyone I bothered back then.
Quiet neighbours - see previous
Not too close to busy roads or rail lines
Owner-managed (they usually seem to care more than an employee)
Friendly, helpful staff - good staff can make up for a lot of short-comings
Clean amenities (I don't care if they are old, but they must be well maintained)
A reasonably-sized swimming pool (in hot weather) is nice
Internet access
Good TV reception

Things I don't give a damn about:

Tennis courts
Games room
Fancy landscaping

In my opinion, owners need to get the basics right at a reasonable price, and they can forget about the rest.

Agree, I don't go the van parks for these features. Your list of wanted features is pretty much what I hope for in a park, that and it being on a surf beach :D

has to be close to water, preferably a river, needs to be clean, and plenty of entertainment for the kids, playground, pool, and signs enforcing speed limits due to children.
we recently stayed in a caravan park in paynesville, victoria..cabins were located right along the river, so you could simply open the curtains and have a view of the river, it had friendly black swans that came to your door step for a feed, each cabin had been supplied with a outdoor setting and small bbq on the veranda, the caravan park was kid friendly, signs everywhere stipulating "feral children on road", pool and games room clean, i wouldnt hesitate going back again.

Not a prob ... mind you ... it does work better on a CT as the powder sticks to the tent and doesn't corrode ... we use it on horizontal surfaces in van ... that tends to keep the blighters at bay.

;)
