Burrum Heads QLD

Postby Scolers » Mon Jun 01, 2009 12:18 pm

Well I hadn't been away for at least ... ummm ... 2 weeks ... so thought it time to head out. As my son was at school it meant either my wife or I had to stay back so I delegated for the wife to stay. Did I mention I'm good at delegating?

First pic is the Burrum River looking out onto Sandy Strait. The headland you can see is the Burrum Coast National Park. You can get most CT's in there and even a small van if you have a large 4wd. Access if via Woodgate for that park. Here's the blurb for Burrum Coast NP:

As I had the van I stayed at Hillcrest Caravan Park ... http://www.burrumheadshillcrestholidaypark.com/ ... personally I like it as it has a fair bit of shade so gives a 'bushy' type of atmosphere. It also has a small pool so when the tide is out you can go for a bit iof a dip. Cost is $22/night for a powered site which is reasonable considering the other park charges over $30 and there's no shade.

Looks like a top park.

Is there a caravan park on the coast of Queensland that doesn;t have palm trees?

This park would be ideal for your Expanda ... we've started looking for the 'bush retreat' style parks ... ie. heaps of bush, no trendy extras, and above all ... cheap! This fits the bill well and even has a pool ... best of all it's only 35k's from me ... 8)

To answer your question ... the other park in Burrum has little or no trees and I think the trees is does have are gums. Mind you, as you noted, probably one of the few place on the coast with little or no palms.

Cheers ...

Yeah that's the Burrum Heads River Park (or something like that).

I spent a week on a riverfront site there.

Vans have enough room to erect their annexes but beyond that there's no more room. Good thing is you get covered in shade quickly ...

Much prefer Hillcrest ... it is cheaper and has a small pool too.
